She told the story of an ancestor she is deeply inspired by, and how she finds support and encouragement in a group of artist friends. She shared how her husband and children support her work -- and how she and her husband hope to be an example to their kids of creativity and entrepreneurship. And even when her work is purchased by strangers or collectors, she finds that there is great support to be found when she shares her gifts and contributes beauty and joy in the world through her art.

We asked her if she ever feels alone or stuck in her creative work as a painter and she shared a story of feeling blocked in her work for a time. This lead her to an important project she felt compelled to begin: to paint a representation of the Garden of Eden. Katrina felt that being stuck was an important step of the process of creating something that would come to mean so much to her and take on a life of its own.

We were all so inspired by the idea that art has a unique ability has to connect us with others and be a conduit for God’s love, inspiration, and revelation.

Sometimes it can feel selfish to take the time for our own creativity but remembering the influence that work can have in someone else’s life can help us remember how imperative it is for us to use our gifts!
