Create Your Very Best Work

Creating your very best work allows for connection. When you’re creating your very best work you feel more connected to three things:

  1. You feel more connected to your creativity.

  2. You feel more connected to yourself (because you’re allowing your intuition/spirit to lead instead of just your mind)

  3. People are able to have a deeper connection to whatever you’re creating (work of art, painting, writing, lesson you’re teaching, podcast, etc.)

If you’re wanting to create your very best work, you need to find what kind of connection might be lacking and then focus on that.

  • Do you feel connected to your creativity?

  • Do you feel connected to yourself?

  • Do others feel connected to the work you’re creating?

Then ask yourself this question to find the real WHY behind your creativity. “Why am I doing the creative thing in the first place?

This will help you get started. Then try the journal prompt below to go even deeper!

Try This Journal Prompt To Create Your Best Work

Journal prompt:

Think of a time when you let your creativity flow freely.

Think of any details you can remember.

  • Where were you? What were you doing?

  • What did you help create? How did it feel? How did it make others feel if they saw, experienced or benefited from it?

  • What do you remember most about that experience?

Look over your answers and see if any words stick out to you.

The great thing about this question is it helps you remember details that you might have forgotten or didn’t think had an effect on your creativity.

If you take the time to write out this question and remember the details, it’ll help you find keywords or phrases that you can use the next time you want to create your very best work.

What does your creativity like and dislike?

Amazing things can happen when you get to know your creativity a little better! Discovering what your creativity likes and dislikes will help you create your very best work. Here are some examples:

What does your creativity hate?

  • Pressure

  • Feeling rushed

  • Too many choices and feeling overwhelmed

  • Criticism

  • Being distracted

  • Working when it’s tired or hungry

What does your creativity love?

  • Plenty of time

  • Positive affirmations from yourself or others

  • Constructive feedback from a trusted source

  • Less pressure

  • Deep work

  • Working first thing in the morning

  • Working late at night

Remember, when your creativity is happy it’ll have an effect on how you feel and how you create! See if you can find ways to make your creativity a little happier by getting rid of some things or adding others. (Ex. Start waking up early to write first thing in the morning or communicate well with your family so they know this time is for you and your creativity.)
