How To Focus On Things That Have A Lasting Effect

It’s possible (and easy!) to be more intentional with where you’re putting your energy and to notice the lasting effect it’s having on your life.

Today we want to help you take a step back from your life so you can see what’s working, what’s not working, and how to give yourself plenty of grace along the way. 

You can be more intentional about the choices you make with just one powerful tool: observation.

  1. Observe

First it’s important to just notice & recognize. Take a minute to observe the actions & choices you make on a daily basis & then observe or recognize if they’ve been having any lasting effects on you.

You don’t need to make a huge action plan today. For now, you’re just taking inventory. You’re just noticing how you’re doing certain things and asking yourself if that is really serving you.

The more mindful you are of the lasting effects your actions are having on you, the more you can appreciate your hard work & also give yourself grace in those areas that might need some tweaking.

2. Focus On The Good

As you start being more mindful of your actions & start recognizing the lasting effects they are having on your life, it might be easy to go directly to things that you don’t like or that aren’t working.

Instead, let’s pick something you’re “doing right.” Something that’s aligned with your goals and overall purpose and then ask yourself three questions. 

  1. Is this serving my current self?

  2. Is this serving my future self?

  3. Is this serving my God? Or is this strengthening my relationship with my God?


3. Remember Principle Vs. Tactic

The system you choose isn’t as important as the lasting effect of a true principle.

Are you working hard to find the perfect system/tactic? Instead let’s shift your focus to the guiding principle that you want to internalize.
