The Difference Between Action and Belief

(and which one is most important)

I (Kristin) am an action-taking person. If there’s a problem to solve or something bad about to happen or something I want, I take ACTION.

I am good at coming up with plans and ideas and putting them into place with action and work. And often, this action is super useful. It might solve the problem or help me reach the goals or prevent something I don’t want to happen.

But sometimes action isn’t enough.

Sometimes you can take all the action in the world and a situation you’re in just does. not. budge. 

So what are you left with then when action doesn’t get you where you want to be? Belief.

Belief is often the missing link in making your desires and dreams reality, especially when action isn’t enough. Action can only take you so far. Self belief is what will bridge the gap.

And what’s exciting is that once you learn to harness the power of belief, you don’t have to work so hard by taking action.

Yes, there will still be actions to take (it’s not one or the other), but when the actions come from a space of strong belief, they’re easy and fun.

And belief + action work together to create amazing results!


Here’s What I Mean By Self-Belief

I’m talking about having a clear and specific vision in your mind of what you want (big or small) and living into it in your mind.

That means thinking thoughts about that future that will align with the version of you that has that future. 

  • Living as if it’s already true

  • Thinking what your future self would think

  • Intentional direction of your mind toward those desires, repeatedly over time

OUR THOUGHTS LITERALLY BECOME REALITY! It takes time for reality to catch up to the thoughts we think. But it always does.

And the reason most of us have lives that don’t really change all that much is because we think thoughts that don’t change all that much. We just think the same things over and over again. (“I’ll never lose the weight.” “We don’t have a lot of money.” “It’s just the way things are.”)


Practicing beliefs before they’re believable

The key to this self belief work is practicing beliefs before they’re believable.

This is the trickiest part but the part that’s like magic!

To clarify, you want to practice thoughts that you at least sort of believe. I’ve never seen it work to try believing something so far out of the realm of your current reality that it feels laughable. But they also have to be slightly beyond your current level of believability.

We’ve talked a lot about this before when teaching about mantras. You want to think thoughts that you almost believe or want to believe or can imagine yourself eventually believing.

The more you live in this world in your mind—the world where you think about, dream about, imagine, and enjoy the future desire—the more your belief in obtaining it will grow.
