here's a recap of what we talked about:

“I want to do some kind of creative project but I don’t know what that would be.” We’ve heard this comment a lot lately so we thought we’d share a few ideas on how to find something that sparks your inspiration and helps you add some creativity to your life.

How to Find Your Creativity:

We came up with a list of some questions to ask yourself to help you discover what it is you want to do creatively. You can download the full list of questions on this week’s pdf FREEBIE or jpg FREEBIE, but here’s a couple to get you started:

  • What do you secretly suspect you’d be good at?

  • If you had unlimited free time, what would you do?

  • What are you a little jealous that others get to do?

Make sure you grab the full list HERE so you can do some journaling and self-discovery! You might be surprised with the answers you find.

Finding Time:

You might feel like your schedule is already so full that you aren’t sure where you’d fit in something that’s just for fun. Here’s a few ideas:

  • Claim one evening a week or even once a month as time for just you and your creativity. Use that time to go to a class, watch some YouTube videos, buy a few supplies, or just get started!

  • Some hobbies work well when focused on seasonally. Maybe your work slows down in the winter and you have a little extra time to hunker down inside and knit something cuddly and beautiful.

  • Is there any time you spend on passive entertainment that you could replace with creating something? Or maybe you like watching TV with your spouse in the evenings -- could you do something with your hands at the same time?

Last tip: If this creative project is important to you or if you feel that spark of excitement, you’ll find time for it!

How to Get Started:

Just start trying things! You don’t have to be good at them right off the bat, so don’t take it too seriously. Find some local or online classes or just watch some YouTube videos that teach you a few things.

Just make sure you don’t get lost in the learning -- spend more time DOING!

Follow the pattern of learn -> try -> learn -> try!
