How to navigate periods of waiting and wanting WITH faith

In this episode Jessica reminded us how faith in God and His nature makes the waiting bearable -- and increases our growth.

So if you are in a season of waiting, first know that you are not alone!

We all go through seasons of waiting and sometimes those seasons can last longer then we’d like, but here are a few things to remember if you’re wanting to learn how to be a little more patient.

Here are a few ways you can “wait well” with whatever trial you’re currently going through.

  1. Remember that real hope is confident expectation.

    • Hope isn’t just wishing that things will change or work out for the better. So if you are hoping for something, you are believing it with you heart, mind and soul! This also means that you’ll start taking the necessary action to match that hope.

  2. We always win when we never give up.

    • Even if you’re currently struggling and it doesn’t feel like you’re making much progress don’t give up! Remember that you are doing so well dear one.

  3. The enemy attacks you where you are called.

    • It can be frustrating to be in a season of no’s or feel resistance to something you were called to do, but don’t give up! Just remember that the adversary will work hard to discourage and distract you from your true purpose.

  4. When we’re working within our own strength, that’s when impatience settles in.

    • If you’re feeling overwhelmed, that might be a good time to reconnect with God and rely more on his strength.

  5. How to be in a season of waiting and not let it be so heavy. Jessica reminds us that:

  • “Even when I’m not seeing the physical results, I know something is happening in the spiritual realm.” - Jessica Hottle

Are you relying on your own strength too much?

Here are two key questions to ask yourself that help you immediately recognize when you’re relying on your own strength too much:

  1. Are you working out of fear?

  2. Are you doing things because you’re called or because you’re trying to prove something to someone else?

If you answered yes to either, you might be relying on your own strength alone and it might be time for you to start letting God help you along the way.

When we’re working out of fear or trying to prove something to others, we step away from following the plan that God personally has for us. We start feeling frustrated, overworked and overwhelmed.

Those can be little red flags that we need to slow down and reconnect with God so he can strengthen us.
